Crowns and bridges are the types of teeth we produce most frequently for dentists. Based on your patient’s needs and oral condition, you can request PFM crowns, metal crowns, full contour zirconia crowns, layered zirconia crowns, or Emax crowns from us.
Istar is a crowns prefabricated laboratory capable of producing high-quality crown and bridge teeth for you. Take the production of a simple PFM crown, for example. From the initial steps of pour model, build wax-up, and casting to the technical processes by dental technicians like metal finish, porcelain build up, and contouring, and finally to glazing, polishing, and quality inspection—we have a well-established system and extensive experience at every step.
The interior of PFM (Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal) bridge is made of a metal alloy core, and you can choose from CoCr, platinum, gold, and other alloys as the metal core material. The surface is coated with a special layer of porcelain, which our technicians refine and process to make it more beautiful and natural-looking.
The full contour zirconia crown is made entirely from high-strength zirconia. Compared to PFM, it has a higher hardness. The greatest advantage of the full contour zirconia crown is that its zirconia material has biocompatibility, which means that very few people experience allergic reactions to it.
The layered zirconia crown is a full contour zirconia crown with an added porcelain layer for enhanced aesthetics and a more natural look. However, due to this porcelain layer, it is less suitable for the posterior region. The brittleness of porcelain makes it more prone to chipping or cracking when placed on back teeth.
The E-max crown is an all-ceramic crown made of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic. Its strength is higher than that of a PFM crown but lower than that of a zirconia crown. Like the zirconia crown, it also has biocompatibility. Additionally, its color is translucent, allowing it to blend with the shade of the natural tooth for a more natural appearance. This makes it commonly used for anterior restorations.
The Composite Crown is a very economical choice. Its advantages include low cost, easy repair, and the ability to match the color very closely to natural teeth. However, its drawback is lower durability and strength, so it is not recommended for placement in the posterior region.
As you know, for a dentist, a crown that doesn’t fit the patient properly can be a real problem. Through continuous research and practice, our crown dental lab has reduced the crown remake rate to the lowest in the industry! If the crowns and bridges we produce don’t meet your expectations, we’ll remake them for you at no extra cost!
Istar dental bridge lab has a well-developed production and shipping process of its own. For standard crowns and bridges, our production time is 2-3 days, with single shipment time of only 3 days. This is nearly the same turnaround as a more expensive local dental lab! So, you don’t need to worry about timing at all.
PFM repair is a service provided by Istar, allowing you to send us the damaged PFM crowns of patients for restoration. We will add porcelain and glazing to the damaged area, restoring it to its original appearance. However, please note that if the damage is extensive, we recommend creating a new PFM crown instead.
Proper crown placement is a priority for every dentist. Some dentists, to be cautious, may request us to first create a metal coping for the patient to test the fit and occlusion. Once assessed, the coping can be sent back to us for the next steps, such as applying porcelain and glazing.
The porcelain shoulder is a special porcelain layer applied to the edge of the PFM crown. This feature enhances aesthetics by concealing the metal edge. Additionally, since some patients may have metal allergies, the Porcelain Shoulder prevents metal from contacting the gum tissue, reducing the risk of allergic reactions.
The zirconia coping crown try-In is similar to the metal coping try-In. It is also a semi-finished product, used to test fit and occlusion before proceeding with the final steps of porcelain application and glazing.
Gum pink porcelain is a dental restorative material used to mimic the color and appearance of gum tissue. It acts as a transitional feature until the gum tissue has fully regenerated. Dentists often request this addition when ordering a dental bridge.

When a dental bridge is generally needed, the dentist will often grind down the adjacent teeth using a dental handpiece before placing the bridge. However, a Maryland bridge does not require this method. It is secured to the adjacent teeth and crown using metal or zirconia wings, which helps stabilize the teeth. This approach minimizes damage to the teeth, but it is not as durable as traditional bridges.
The wings are the fixed components used in a Maryland bridge to connect the adjacent teeth, and they are typically made of metal or zirconia.
Post and core are generally used in cases of severe tooth damage, providing support and stability for the crown placed on the tooth. You can choose CoCr, Emax, or zirconia as the material for its construction.
